Project Overview
Whelan Construction successfully completed the installation of the first automatic passenger gate deployment system at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). This cutting-edge Dormakaba electronic gate system is designed to verify passenger eligibility through boarding pass scanning, ensuring smoother transitions into the International Terminal and reducing passenger queuing during peak connection periods. The system enhances operational efficiency, security, and passenger experience by automating verification processes, streamlining connections, and alleviating congestion during high-traffic hours.
Scope of Work
- Autogate Installation: Installation of a two-lane Dormakaba automatic passenger gate system in the International Terminal and two three-lane Dormakaba systems, expanding capacity and reducing connection delays.
- Full Integration of Boarding Pass Scanners: Seamless connection with YVR’s existing security and passenger processing systems.
- Electrical, Structural & Communications Work: Coordination of power, data, and automation requirements to ensure full operational capability.
